The Sub-base Matters More Than the Surface

Permitted Surface Regulations
If you are installing an impermeable surface of more than 5 square metres — such as solid tarmac or concrete — you may need planning permission unless the water drains to a lawn or border. Permeable surfaces such as resin bound gravel or permeable block paving avoid this requirement. Your contractor should advise on this before work begins.
